Mission
Sequoia Sentinels™ is a community-led non-profit [501(c)(3)] dedicated to cultivating the growth of sequoia trees across private lands and forests in Southern California, focusing mainly on the picturesque Palomar Mountain region. Indigenous to California, sequoias are renowned for their remarkable longevity, with some venerable specimens exceeding 3,000 years. As colossal giants of the plant kingdom, sequoias play a pivotal role in ecosystems by providing crucial habitat, stabilizing soil, sequestering carbon, and more.
This visionary initiative seeks to mobilize the active participation of local communities, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies in a unified effort to plant and nurture sequoia trees. Sequoia Sentinels, by fostering a collaborative campaign, endeavors to preserve these majestic trees and champion a sustainable and harmonious future for Southern California.
PlantOur first goal is cultivating the growth of sequoia trees across private lands and forests in Southern California, focusing particularly on the picturesque Palomar Mountain region. Part of this effort is to maintain and monitor planted trees.
